Item 7 of the draft - Official Board Minutes. of 18 Sep 2016

7. Original recommendation from the executive re the survey results read·.
Recommendation.. The Executive of the Berwick Trinity Official Board has reviewed your survey
responses and our financial situation and recommends that we begin planning for one congregation
worshipping together in one building. We must look at the process for critically examining both buildings as
to their potential for the future of our combined needs. We must also consider how we reorganize our
committee structure as we form one congregation.
This came to the board as a motion made by Carolina Tucker/seconded by Keith Menzies at the
executive meeting. (executive meeting minutes had been circulated for information)

Carolina Tucker moved/Keith Menzies seconded a motion Granting of corresponding privileges to
all present at the board meeting. Motion carried. This allowed discussion of the motion to be continued at
the board meeting.

Discussion followed
- addressing the fact that in the not distant future finances would force this decision on us
- the pressure of making the budget and the hours of fundraising to do this is burning out our
people and using up so much energy and time it is hard to do the things that nourish our spirits
- concern as to why our numbers are shrinking.
- it is better to make these decisions working together through discussion, not have it forced on us.

The mover and seconder agreed on a word change (addition of the two words in bold) and the
following motion was voted on by the members of the Official board:
